Getting Ready for a Vacation!

What is a good reward after going through the long process of bariatric surgery? What about a planned vacation? Shall we go to the beach at St. Lucia OR shall we go to hike Machu Pichu in Peru? Or shall we go snorkeling in the island of Maldives or bungee jump in New Zealand? The sky is the limit after your bariatric surgery, after all, the surgery was done so that you can LIVE LIFE to the MAX!

Several things that you need to ask before your vacation planning: bariatric surgery Houston

When was your surgery? Physical activity should be limited for the first 6 weeks following surgery. Please discuss with your surgeon if you plan a vacation during this period. After the healing period, you shall be able to do more activities with fewer limitations. With that, you shall consider all possible risks before signing up waivers for activities during your vacation period.

What is your place of destination? Are you going to Japan culinary tour or are you going to see the Niagara Falls? The destination will help you decide if it is appropriate for you and if you need to bring your protein shake or protein bars with you. Having raw sashimi will be better versus having the raw octopus which is chewy and hard to digest. Do your research on what you will be able to have for meals for the place of destination.

Can you fit exercise time during your trip? You can definitely continue your gym time and continue to lose weight during a cruise vacation. Discuss tour itinerary with your tour guide ahead of time and see if you can fit sometime to exercise. If you are going to Machu Pichu tomorrow, you probably will not need to burn some calorie at the gym the morning of. Hiking will count as your exercise and you can do lunges or squats during the hike if you want to burn more calories and carry a heavier backpack for an extra weight.

If you plan it right, you will ENJOY your vacation and LOSE weight, wherever you are in the world. For any questions or concerns when planning your vacation, please call the office and we will help you!
