How much does the surgery cost with Insurance?

What if I don't have Insurance?

Price is on a case by case basis. If it is determined that there is no coverage (exclusion) for weight loss surgery, or the patient is un-insured, there are three factors that will affect the price, which include: The facility, the procedure and your medical history. Each hospital has itemized fee schedules available with cost variances for each particular procedure. What tools will Bariatric Care Centers offer that will help me pre and post surgery?

Pre-surgical patients are given the opportunity to listen and learn from those who have undergone surgical weight loss. It is strongly encouraged that the prospective patient’s loved-one’s are in attendance for mental, emotional and educational support. Each month a new topic is addressed, giving patients material to ensure continued education and resources through their weight loss journey. We also periodically offer social events such as the Houston’s Walk from Obesity, health fairs and field trips. Our practice offers vitamins that are specially formulated for each weight loss surgery patient to satisfy essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. At Bariatric Care Centers we offer a very close and thorough follow up program to maintain healthy weight loss and attain each patient’s goals with a comprehensive approach. To accommodate our patients, access to Dr. Mirza is available 24/7 if they need medical advice, or have questions or concerns.

What is the difference between a seminar, a one on one, and a new patient consultation?

Both the seminar and the one on one are FREE to the patient.

The seminar is held in a small group setting. Dr. Mirza will review surgical weight loss options, qualifications, and insurance information. A question and answer forum will take place, providing the opportunity for interaction with the physician and attendees.

A one on one is a session between the patient and Dr. Mirza. The patient has time to voice concerns or ask questions. Both are extremely beneficial to anyone researching for more information about the procedures and to begin their weight loss journey.

A new patient consultation is an actual office visit where the patient will undergo a full evaluation by Dr. Mirza. They will have the opportunity to meet with the Bariatric Coordinator and discuss insurance information and preliminary work-up necessary for their particular health requirements. Our Bariatric Coordinator will dedicate time and effort in proving medical necessity to the patient’s insurance company for approval for surgical weight loss. Dr. Mirza will discuss all of the procedures and options with our patient, as well as provide a medical recommendation. He will then address all questions and concerns, and discuss their decision as to which procedure they choose. Our patients have access to the Coordinator and Dr. Mirza throughout the entire pre and post surgical program.
